Potter, NY – Man Injured in Work Accident While Cutting Trees on Northrup Hill Road
Potter, NY (February 18, 2019) – A man from Yates County has been hospitalized after a tree fell him while working on Saturday, February 16, according to authorities. Sheriff’s deputies reported that 54-year-old Darryl Lemay, of Naples, had been working to cut down trees on Northrup Hill Road when one of the trees fell and pinned him beneath it.
According to deputies, Lemay had become trapped under the tree for several minutes after tripping while attempting to move out of the way. A friend of Lemay, who had knowledge of the victims’ whereabouts, was reported to have at least partially witnessed the incident. The friend assisted Lemay at the scene with a chainsaw that he used to free the injured man.
LifeNet was immediately called to the scene, where they airlifted Lemay to Strong Memorial Hospital. He is currently being treated for rib, back, and hip injuries, and is expected to survive. No further information has been released at this time.
