Roslyn, Long Island, NY – Worker’s Legs Severed in Serious Construction Accident
Roslyn, Long Island, NY (February 13, 2019) – A serious accident took place on Wednesday morning, February 13, that severed both legs of a construction worker. Both of the victims’ legs were reported to have been severed below the knees after he was struck by a large steel plate shortly after 8:00 a.m., according to police.
The incident happened at a National Grid construction site near Corncrib Lane and Locust Lane in Roslyn. According to Nassau County police, the impact of the steel plate sent the victim an approximately ten-foot deep hole on the work site. Police and emergency medical crews were immediately called to the scene.
After arriving at the site, officers were eventually able to reach the 39-year-old victim in the hole, where they applied tourniquets to control the intense bleeding. Responders immediately transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he has been listed in stable condition at this time.
The identity of the victim has not been released as authorities are actively investigating the cause of the accident.
