Newburgh, NY – Intoxicated Woman Causes Injurious Crash on Route 9W
Newburgh, NY (February 5, 2019) – A woman who has been identified as 23-year-old Odarly Rodriguez-Reyes, of Newburgh, was reported to have caused an injurious collision following a domestic dispute early Sunday morning, February 3. According to police, the motor vehicle accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on Route 9W in the town of Cornwall.
Officers were reported to have responded to a domestic dispute call at around 5:23 a.m. on Benkard Avenue when Rodriguez-Reyes became angry and fled the premises in a vehicle. The irate woman is believed to have been intoxicated when she quickly drove off, subsequently forcing officers to jump away from the vehicle.
The incident led to a police chase which quickly ended after Rodriguez-Reyes crashed into the rear-end of another vehicle on Route 9W, south of the Cornwall campus of St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. Emergency medical crews were called to the scene where they transported both Rodriguez-Reyes and the driver of the other vehicle to the hospital.
The extent of the injuries suffered by both parties has not been released at this time. Rodriguez-Reyes has been charged with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and first-degree reckless endangerment among other charges.
