Lima, NY – Update: Authorities Released Name of Man Killed in Crash on Clay Street
Lima, NY (February 1, 2019) – New York State Police have now released the identity of the man who tragically lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on Thursday morning, January 31, in the town of Lima. According to police, weather conditions are currently believed to have played a role in the accident which claimed the life of 59-year-old Stephan J. Robertson, of Lima.
Troopers reported that the accident took place at around 6:30 a.m. on Clay Street when Robertson lost control the vehicle he had been driving after possibly hitting a snowdrift. It is unknown as to whether or not anyone else had played a part in causing Robertson to veer off the road where he crashed into a utility pole.
Emergency medical crews were immediately dispatched to the crash site along with police where they found Robertson unresponsive. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation into the crash showed that Robertson may not have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, although whether or not that was due to negligence or a malfunction is unclear. No further information has been provided at this time.
