Cortlandville, NY – Officer Struck by Vehicle on Exit 10 Off-Ramp from I-81
Cortlandville, NY (January 25, 2019) – According to State Police, a trooper was struck by a motor vehicle on the side of Interstate 81 while attending to a disabled vehicle on Thursday, January 24. Police reported that the accident happened on the Exit 10 off-ramp at an unspecified time.
Emergency medical crews were dispatched to the scene of the incident along with police to attend to the victim and evaluate the situation. It was stated as to whether or not the driver who struck the officer remained at the scene or fled the area.
Paramedics were reported to have transported the injured trooper to a nearby hospital where their condition has not been verified. New York State Police are actively reminding people that motorists are required to move over for emergency vehicles by law.
