Unadilla, NY – Driver Injured in Tractor-Trailer Crash on Interstate 88
Unadilla, NY (January 21, 2019) – Interstate 88 was forced to close down for a while following a motor vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer on Monday afternoon, according to State Police. The crash was reported to have taken place at around 5:23 p.m. in Unadilla, between Exit 10 and Exit 12.
According to Troopers, a tractor-trailer overturned onto its side for reasons that are yet to be determined. The accident caused the truck to lose its cargo, spilling its load along with fuel from a ruptured fuel tank across the roadway. Emergency crews and police were quickly dispatched to the scene where they attended to one injured victim.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was immediately taken to Wilson Hospital with head and rib pain. His condition has not been released at this time. Authorities stated that it took several hours for responders to clean up the fuel and debris.
The cause of the crash is currently under investigation as no further details have been provided.
