Hempstead, NY – Man Charged Following Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident

Hempstead, NY (January 19, 2019) – A man from Queens was charged following a hit-and-run pedestrian accident that left a pedestrian seriously injured in Hempstead.

34-year-old Caner Kutyar of Briarwood did not stop his Nissan after he struck a man on Franklin Avenue around 11:20 p.m. on Thursday. The victim, identified as a 43-year-old, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. They sustained multiple injuries and remain there at this time.

Kutyar was found by police and arrested on Friday. He is now facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident with serious personal injuries.

Kutyar is being held on bail. At this time, we do not have details about the pedestrian and what their condition is. However, police continue their investigation and there could be updates.
