Syracuse, NY – Man Suffers Burns During House Fire on West Kennedy Street

Syracuse, NY (January 17, 2019) – One person was reported to have suffered injuries during a house fire that broke out at 445 West Kennedy Street on Wednesday morning, January 16. Syracuse firefighters were immediately called to the scene of the blaze which was stated to have started at around 10:30 a.m., according to the Syracuse Fire Department’s Deputy Fire Chief, Bob Cussen.

When fire crews arrived at the location, a man who lives at the residence had self-evacuated while suffering burns to his legs. Emergency medical crews quickly arrived at the scene where they immediately transported the injured man to Upstate University Hospital to be evaluated and treated. His current condition has not been released.

According to authorities, heavy smoke and flames extended from the first floor of the home to the attic as smoke also filled the street. No further information has been provided as the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
