Blooming Grove, NY – State Police Investigating Deadly Crash on SR 17

Blooming Grove, NY (January 17, 2019) – Troopers were called to the scene of a fatal car crash that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, January 16, for reasons that have not been confirmed at this time. The deadly accident was reported to have happened at approximately 1:07 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of State Route 17, near Exit 129 in the town of Blooming Grove.

There was no report of emergency medical crews being called to the scene as troopers stated that they discovered the victim after locating a 2007 Dodge Caliber down an embankment. The driver of the Caliber, 20-year-old Devon Persaud, of Queens Village, was declared to have died at the scene due to injuries suffered in the crash.

At this time, most details surrounding this accident appear to be unclear, however, Persaud is currently believed to be the sole victim. The cause of this accident is actively under investigation as police work to determine whether or not anyone else was involved.
