Herkimer, NY – Three Children Tragically Killed in Early Morning Fire

Herkimer, NY (January 11, 2019) – An absolutely tragic and devastating incident occurred on Friday morning, January 11, when three young brothers were killed during a house fire in Herkimer. According to investigators, the three young children, one of whom was only one-year-old, died in the fire that started at around 6:00 a.m. at a home on East Steele Street.

After the fire broke out, two adults within the home were woken up by the smoke detectors as they immediately attempted to the three children inside the home. The two unidentified adults were reported to have exited the house before trying to get to the kids for a second time.

Firefighters were sent to the scene along with police and emergency medical crews where officials eventually located the bodies of the three children. The victims were reported as a one-year-old boy, as well as his 6 and 7-year-old brothers.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of this fire as no further details have been provided at this time.
