Albion, NY – One Killed in Two-Car Crash in Oswego County

Albion, NY (January 9, 2019) – A fatal crash that took place in Albion on Tuesday morning, January 8, is currently being investigated by local police. The two-car crash that sadly claimed the life of one man along Route 13 was reported to have occurred at around 7:30 a.m., according to authorities.

An investigation into the incident has shown that a 2004 Ford Explorer was traveling along the aforementioned road westbound when the driver attempted to pass a 2017 Kia Optima that was being operated by 48-year-old Dawn Metzler, of Altmar. The driver of the Explorer lost control for unknown reasons and ultimately struck the Kia before spinning off the road and crashing head-on into a tree.

Following the collision, the Explorer burst into flames with the driver trapped inside. Police along with paramedics were sent to the scene where the unidentified male driver was tragically pronounced deceased. Metzler was reported to have been uninjured in the accident. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
