Tribeca, Manhattan, NY – Update: Authorities Release Identity of Woman Killed in Fiery Crash
Tribeca, Manhattan, NY (December 31, 2018) – The identity of a woman who was tragically killed in a fiery multi-vehicle crash on Saturday morning, December 29, has been released by authorities. 57-year-old Amy Phillipson, of Brooklyn, was sadly pronounced dead after a motor vehicle accident on West Street.
The fatal accident was reported to have occurred after the driver of an Audi, later identified as 37-year-old Sherman Harrison, of Maryland, struck a Honda, driven by Phillipson. The impact of the collision caused Phillipson’s vehicle to flip over and catch fire as Harrison continued to crash into several other vehicles. Emergency medical personnel responded to the crash but were unable to save Philipson.
According to authorities, Harrison attempted to flee the scene of the accident on foot but was unable to get very far before being apprehended. Harrison is currently facing several charges including leaving the scene of an accident and manslaughter.
