Auburn, NY – Officer Responding to DUI Causes Pedestrian Accident
Auburn, NY (December 30, 2018) – A pedestrian accident took place when a police officer had been responding to a drunk driving crash and the officer suddenly struck a pedestrian.
At the time, police say that the pedestrian had been trying to cross a street on Christmas Eve. Police had been responding to an incident where a driver struck four vehicles and then fell out of his vehicle before he climbed back in and tried to drive away.
The officer took off with her lights activated when she tried to avoid a group of juveniles in the roadway. That’s when her vehicle suddenly struck Michael Moultrie, who had been walking south in the roadway on Genesee Street.
The pedestrian suffered a broken pelvis as a result of the accident. They were taken to the hospital with a variety of injuries.
Police continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
