Jamaica, Queens, NY – Deadly Apartment Building Fire Claims Second Life
Jamaica, Queens, NY (December 26, 2018) – The large fire that tore through a Queens apartment building on Sunday afternoon, December 23, and killed 64-year-old David Hawkins, has now tragically claimed another life. 86-year-old John Wigfall, who was stated to have suffered critical injuries, has tragically died at the hospital, according to authorities.
The fire which occurred at a three-story building on 150th Street was reported to be under control by approximately 4:00 p.m. The building has four churches located on the ground floor and several apartments above them. Hawkins was sadly pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Police, emergency medical responders, and firefighters were immediately called to the scene where they attended to the residents of the building and extinguished the blaze. The events that caused the fire are currently unclear, however, the fire chief leading the investigation has stated that the cause appears to be suspicious at this time.
