Lower Manhattan, NY – Update: Police identify Woman Struck and Killed by Charter Bus

Lower Manhattan, NY (December 21, 2018) – The woman was sadly struck and killed by a charter bus in Lower Manhattan Thursday evening, December 20, has now been identified by police as 28-year-old Kimberly Greer, of Long Island. The fatal accident was reported to have taken place at around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Centre Street and Leonard Street.

According to authorities, the collision occurred when the driver of the bus, now identified as 50-year-old Xi Chen, of New York, made a left turn onto Leonard from Centre. The passengers on the bus stated that they had not known anything was wrong until Chen exited the bus and returned in a panic.

Police were sent to the scene, as well as paramedics, in order to assess the situation and render aid to the victim. Greer was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries reported in the accident and Chen was charged with failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian.
