Syracuse, NY – State Trooper Injured by Driver During Traffic Stop

Syracuse, NY (December 20, 2018) – According to state police, a trooper suffered at least minor injuries after becoming pinned between two vehicles following a traffic stop on Tuesday evening, December 18. The incident was reported to have taken place at around 7:00 p.m. in a Syracuse store parking lot.

31-year-old Shaun Clark, of Auburn, was driving a pickup truck when the trooper stopped him for reasons that have not been stated. Clark was reported to have been unable to produce a driver’s license or any identification and was subsequently ordered to exit the vehicle.

Clark then jumped back into the truck while being searched and quickly began driving forward, dragging trooper Andrew Skerpon before hitting the building in front of them. Clark continued to then back up the truck which struck a trooper vehicle and ultimately pinned Skerpon between the two. Paramedics who arrived at the scene transported Skerpon to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Clark fled the scene of the incident, however, he was caught a short time later. Clark was charged with reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. No further information has been provided at this time.
