North Lindenhurst, NY – Three People injured Following Chain-Reaction Crash
North Lindenhurst, NY (December 17, 2018) – Three people have been hospitalized following a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Monday afternoon, December 17, according to authorities. The accident which resulted in shutting down a portion of the Sunrise Highway westbound, as well as its service road, happened at around 2:20 p.m.
Police stated that an accident occurred when a cesspool truck that was traveling west along the highway slammed into a vehicle that was directly in front of it, which resulted in a chain-reaction crash. Five vehicles including one that struck a utility pole were involved in the accident altogether. The large crash took place in the vicinity of the junction with Route 109.
According to authorities, emergency medical personnel transported a total of three people to West Islip Hospital to be treated for injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. Police stated that no contaminants spilled on the roadway during the crash.
No further information has been made available as police are likely involved in a thorough investigation into the events that led to this incident.
