Salina, NY – Two-Vehicle Accident with Injuries Due to Drunk Driving
Salina, NY (December 16, 2018) – Yesterday around 10:13 p.m., State Police were called to the intersection of Court Street and Berwick Road in Salina for a two-vehicle accident due to drunk driving. One of the vehicles involved struck a building and police said that injuries were reported.
Police found that Paul Brooker had been driving a 2018 Chevy and was traveling south when he failed to stop at the stop sign and ran into a 2017 Toyota. The impact was so forceful that the truck went off the road and struck a building.
Brooker fled the scene on foot but troopers were able to catch up to him. Several witnesses identified Brooker as the driver involved in the accident. He was quickly charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to stop at a stop sign, and failing to yield the right-of-way.
The driver of the truck that ran into the building was identified as 49-year-old John Farstler, who was not injured. His passenger, a 46-year-old female, was transported to the hospital with various injuries.
