Claverack, NY – 17-Year-Old Girl Air-Lifted After Morning Collision
Claverack, NY (December 14, 2018) – Two people were involved in a collision that resulted in serious injuries on Friday morning, December 14, on Route 23 in the town of Claverack. The Columbia County Sheriff has now identified the victims as 17-year-old Jessica Spencer, of Copake, and Amanda Baird, of Hillsdale.
According to authorities, Spencer had pulled out into the path of Baird’s vehicle while attempting to turn around on Route 23. Baird, who had been traveling westbound, crashed into Spencer’s vehicle causing it to roll over off the highway.
Emergency medical crews accompanied police to the scene where Spencer was immediately airlifted to Albany Medical Center in critical condition. Baird was reported to have suffered minor injuries as she was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital via Greenport Rescue and has since been treated and released.
The exact events that led to this incident are currently under investigation at this time.
