Latham, NY – Update: Police Identify Woman Killed in Pedestrian Crash at Intersection

Latham, NY (December 12, 2018) – On Tuesday night, December 10, a woman was tragically killed while walking across an intersection in Latham. 61-year-old Janet Nittoli was reported to have been walking along the intersection of Route 2 and Swatling Road when she was hit by a vehicle and died at the scene.

According to authorities, the accident took place at around7:15 p.m. when a 57-year-old man from Troy struck Nittoli with his vehicle and immediately called 911. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities who arrived to find Nittoli deceased from her injuries.

Nittoli is believed to have been living in the Capital Region but not much else is known about the victim who was struck for reasons that have not been determined. As part of the investigation, police are actively speaking with witnesses and going over surveillance footage from nearby businesses.

Drugs and alcohol do not seem to have played a role in the accident at this time. No further information has been made available.
