Gravesend, Brooklyn, NY – Woman Killed Following Hit-and-Run Accident
Gravesend, Brooklyn, NY (December 11, 2018) – A fatal hit-and-run collision has police investigating today, Tuesday, December 11, in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn. The tragic accident which claimed the life of a 56-year-old unidentified woman was reported to have taken place at around 8:00 a.m., according to authorities.
Police stated that the victim was walking in the area of West 2nd Street and Avenue Y when she was hit by a dark-colored van. According to investigators, the pedestrian was hit while attempting to walk across a crosswalk and carrying groceries at the time.
Paramedics were immediately called to the scene of the accident and quickly transported the victim to Coney Island Hospital. Sadly, she was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.
The driver of the van that struck the woman did not remain at the scene to offer assistance or cooperate with authorities but fled the area instead. No further information has been released at this time.
Police are actively conducting a thorough investigation into this incident.
