Melrose, The Bronx, NY – Two Children Struck and Injured by Off-Duty Crossing Guard
Melrose, The Bronx, NY (December 7, 2018) – Police in the Bronx arrested 29-year-old Elisha Mayo, a school crossing guard, who struck and injured two children and then fled the scene on Thursday afternoon, December 6. According to authorities, Mayo was off-duty and driving her personal vehicle when she hit and injured the children at around 11:30 a.m.
A two-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl were reported to have run into the road at the intersection of Melrose Avenue and East 153rd Street at the time of the collision. The two children were struck by Mayo’svehicle which was reported as a white Acura. Mayo left the scene of the accident without stopping to offer assistance to the injured children.
The young victims were immediately taken to a local hospital where they have been listed in stable condition. The two victims were stated to be cousins, according to authorities. Mayo
Police are likely to be continuing their investigation into this incident.
