Stony Brook, NY – Jogger Struck by Van Tuesday, Identified as Cross Country Runner
Stony Brook, NY (December 7, 2018) – The jogger who was struck by a minivan and critically injured while crossing Nicolls Road on Tuesday morning, December 4, has been identified as 18-year-old Noah Bernard Farrelly. Farrelly is an active member of the Stony Brook University’s cross country team.
The Binghamton High School graduate was reported to have been jogging along Nicolls Road at Health Sciences Drive when he was struck by a Dodge Caravan driven by Mohammad Refaat, 65, of Patchogue at around 10:50 a.m.Police and paramedics urgently arrived on the scene to assist Farrelly and evaluate the accident.
Emergency medical crews attended to Farrelly and immediately rushed him to Stony Brook University Hospital. His injuries have been stated as critical at this time.
Police impounded the Caravan to conduct a safety check and no files have been charged against Refaat. Police are likely to be involved in an in-depth investigation into the events of this incident.
