Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY – Update: New Information on Injurious Incident with FedEx Truck Driver

Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY (December 4, 2018) – Police investigating the incident which occurred outside of the Beit El-Maqdis Islamic Center in Sunset Park on Monday, December 3, have released new information concerning the parties involved. A pedestrian was struck by a FedEx truck driver who had allegedly become irritated while waiting for a crowd gathered for a funeral at the aforementioned mosque.

The incident occurred on 6th Avenue and is considered a road rage incident as the driver of the truck drove through the crowd that was delaying traffic. The driver of the FedEx truck has now been identified as 25-year-old Andrew Blount, of Brooklyn, who not only struck the pedestrian but also used a knife to cut one of the mourners after a group tried to prevent him from fleeing the scene.

Paramedics confirmed that the injured pedestrian suffered at least minor injuries due to the impact of the accident, however, whether or not the victim was hospitalized has not been stated. The current condition of the victim is unknown as police are continuing to investigate the incident.
