Lawrence, NY – Cedarhurst Surgeon Killed in Serious Pedestrian Accident
Lawrence, NY (December 2, 2018) – Police say that a Cedarhurst surgeon was killed in a pedestrian accident that took place in Lawrence late yesterday afternoon, December 1. The surgeon was the founder of a branch of the Hatzalah ambulance service in Manhattan.
At the time, 55-year-old Richard Friedman was walking on Washington Avenue when he was suddenly struck by a 2016 BMW headed in the same direction. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and was taken to the hospital, where he was tragically pronounced deceased due to his injuries.
The male driver was identified as a 44-year-old who stayed at the scene of the accident.
Friedman was a bariatric surgeon who helped save the lives of many for over three decades, according to those who knew him.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident at this time.
