Penfield, NY – Three People Injured in Crash Following Hunting Accident
Penfield, NY (November 30, 2018) – Three people sustained injuries in a motor vehicle crash, one of which had suffered an ankle injury during a hunting accident shortly before the collision. The traffic accident was reported to have happened at around 5:41 p.m. on Friday evening, November 30, according to authorities.
An investigation found that one of the victims involved in the car accident had fallen while hunting and sustained a nearly broken ankle as a result. Family members of the injured 64-year-old man loaded him into the back of a pickup truck to take him to the hospital. On the way home, the pickup truck they were driving was rear-ended by another vehicle on Plank Road in Penfield.
The injured man, as well as two other people, were ejected from the pickup truck due to the impact of the collision. Deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the crash site along with paramedics to assist those involved. A 59-year-old woman and the previously injured man were both immediately taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be treated.
All injuries were stated to be rather minor, and the 73-year-old man who struck the pickup was unharmed in the incident but ticketed for following too closely and driving at an unsafe speed.
