Thompson, NY – Woman Killed in Crash with Tractor-Trailer on Route 17
Thompson, NY (November 27, 2018) – On Monday evening, November 26, a woman was tragically killed following a motor vehicle accident with a tractor-trailer on Route 17. The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol responded to a call concerning the deadly wreck at around 5:04 p.m., according to authorities.
The fatal crash was stated to have occurred in the eastbound lanes of Route 17 when Emily Henry collided with a center median guardrail before crossing into the path of the tractor-trailer. The distance between the truck and the vehicle is unknown, however, it was reported that the truck driver was unable to avoid striking the passenger side of Henry’s vehicle.
Rock Hill firefighters arrived on the scene to extricate Henry from her vehicle. Henry sustained serious injuries due to the impact of the crash as she was immediately taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris by Mobile Medic. At a later time, Henry was transferred to Orange Regional Medical Center in Wallkill, where she was sadly pronounced deceased.
The tractor-trailer driver, identified as 27-year-old Joshua Hill, of Waterloo, was unharmed in the accident. Police are currently inspecting both vehicles as part of the investigation into this incident.
