Gouverneur, NY – Two-Vehicle Collision on State Route 11

Gouverneur, NY (November 26, 2018) – Sunday afternoon, November 25, New York State Police responded to a call concerning a motor vehicle accident on State Route 11. The exact time of the crash was not stated, however, two vehicles were reported to have been involved in the Gouverneur collision.

According to a preliminary investigation that was conducted at the scene, 46-year-old Michael R. Roach, of Ogdensburg, was the operator of a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country minivan. Roach had been parked on the east side of Route 11 before attempting to make a U-turn without yielding to oncoming traffic.

Police stated that 38-year-old Travis A. Smithers, of Heuvelton, had been traveling in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado and proceeded to crash into Roach’s minivan. Paramedics along with police were immediately called to the scene.

Emergency responders quickly transported Roach to the University of Vermont Medical Center via LifeNet for treatment. Roach was reported to have sustained leg injuries and broken ribs in the crash. One passenger in the minivan, Deborah A. Deloney, 61, of Ogdensburg, was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital with leg and chest injuries.
