Lowville, NY – Update: New Details and Identities Released in SUV Crash with Tractor-Trailer
Lowville, NY (November 21, 2018) – Police have now released a few details, as well as the names of the drivers involved in a crash between an SUV and a tractor-trailer that took place on Monday afternoon, November 19. At approximately 1:45 p.m., Mindy Lucas, of Copenhagen, was operating a Chevrolet Equinox when she collided with a tractor-trailer on Dayan Street.
The accident was stated to have taken place between Easton Street and the American Legion located on the aforementioned road. According to authorities, the driver of a tractor-trailer, now identified as Lowell Zehr, of Lowville, slammed on his brakes as he approached a bend in the roadway but was unable to completely avoid contact with Lucas’ SUV.
Zehr sharply veered to the left and ultimately ended up on the front lawn of a nearby house, only a few feet away from crashing into the structure. Lucas was promptly taken to Lewis County General Hospital and then airlifted to University Hospital in Syracuse. She is currently undergoing treatment for serious leg injuries at this time.
Police are continuing an investigation into this incident.
