Rush, NY – Tow Truck Driver Severely Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle on I-390

Rush, NY (November 14, 2018) – On Tuesday night, November 13, authorities reported a serious accident between a pedestrian and a motorist in the town of Rush. The accident took place at around 11:40 p.m. when a tow truck driver was struck by a passing pickup truck while helping a vehicle that had been disabled on the side of Interstate 390.

32-year-old Clayton George was reported to have been working as a driver for Gates Towing when he was dispatched to assist a disabled vehicle on the interstate near exit 11. After performing his duties, George was reported to have been struck by a pickup truck on the side of the roadway.

Deputies who arrived on the scene a short time later stated that they found George several feet away from where the accident occurred. George was immediately taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with severe head injuries. He has been listed in serious condition at this time.

The 34-year-old female driver of the pickup truck that hit George was reported to have remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Drugs and alcohol are not expected to have been involved in this accident but the driver was ticketed for speed not reasonable or prudent.
