Staten Island, NY – DWI Driver Who Caused Injurious Crash Identified as Off-Duty MTA Bus Driver

Staten Island, NY (November 12, 2018) – Police reported that an off-duty bus driver crashed his car into another vehicle on Saturday night, November 10, subsequently causing injuries in the process. The accident was reported to have taken place at around 11:00 p.m. on Hylan Boulevard and Luten Avenue in Huguenot.

45-year-old Edward Acosta, of Eltingville, was believed to have been intoxicated when he crashed his vehicle into another at the aforementioned intersection. According to police, Acosta was driving his 2012 black Toyota when he struck the rear-end of a Jeep that was being operated by a 38-year-old woman.

Acosta and the woman he crashed into were the only ones involved in the accident as they were both taken to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze. The condition of the victim is currently unknown, however, Acosta was arrested a few hours later for driving while intoxicated.
