Rochester, NY – One Man Seriously Injured During House Fire

Rochester, NY (November 12, 2018) – On Saturday afternoon, November 10, a fire was reported to have broken out at a single-family home on Bloomfield Place in Rochester. Dispatchers sent firefighters to the residence as they were stated to have arrived at around 12:27 p.m.

The fire was said to have been noticed by a disabled man in the house who attempted to alert other residents who were upstairs at the time. His 17-year-old son and 22-year-old daughter were upstairs when the blaze began and unable to hear the man’s shouting from the living room, according to authorities. However, the son and daughter eventually made it downstairs and attempted to help their father out before the smoke became overwhelming.

Firefighters arrived in time to help the disabled man out of the house and begin medical treatment on him. The fire was reported to have been contained mostly in the living room and was under control by approximately 12:58 p.m. The Rochester Fire Department stated that there no working smoke detectors in the home, and a pet dog was also injured before being rushed to a nearby animal hospital.

Authorities stated that the Red Cross had been called to the residence for three adults and two children but no other pertinent information has been made available. The injured man was initially reported to be in critical condition, although his current condition has not been released.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
