Irondequoit, NY – Woman Pronounced Dead After Pedestrian Accident

Irondequoit, NY (November 10, 2018) – In Irondequoit, police were called to the scene of a pedestrian accident that was deemed a hit-and-run, which took the life of a woman. The accident took place this morning, November 10.

Police responded to the area of Bay View Road and found that the woman had died at the scene of the accident. She had been crossing Bay View Road to retrieve her mail when she was struck by a vehicle.

The driver fled the scene and did not stop to render aid. The pedestrian has since been identified as 87-year-old Joan Dierna.

At this time, police are looking for more information on the driver who struck her and continue to investigate.
