South Kortright, NY – Woman Seriously Injured After Pedestrian Accident
South Kortright, NY (November 3, 2018) – A woman has been identified who was seriously injured as the result of a pedestrian accident in South Kortright on Monday, October 29. The woman was identified as 27-year-old Laurie Hitchcock.
Hitchcock had been walking south on County Route 10 around 6:30 a.m. on the morning in question, when she was suddenly struck by a pickup truck. She had been carrying a can of gas at the time when she was struck and it caught on fire in her hands. Witnesses said that they saw a large fireball.
Hitchcock remains in stable but critical condition at the hospital at this time. She received serious injuries and is working on recovering at this time.
Police say that the driver who struck her was identified as a 44-year-old from Tellico Plaints. He was issued a variety of tickets. Police are still investigating at this time.
