Amherst, NY – Fatal Pedestrian Accident Takes Life of Woman
Amherst, NY (October 27, 2018) – The life of one woman was taken in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst. The pedestrian was since identified as Jennifer Duffin.
Duffin was the sixth and most recent pedestrian to lose her life in that area this year. The accident happened in the late hours of the night when Duffin was leaving the area on foot. Duffin walked across three southbound lanes and started walking north along the center turning lane, which is when she was suddenly struck by a vehicle.
The force of the accident was so severe that Duffin was thrown onto the vehicle and its windshield. Jennifer was alive when emergency responders came to the scene. She went to have surgery at a local hospital but unfortunately did not survive.
Many people in the area believe that there are some issues with the roadway regarding pedestrian safety such as missing pavement markings, improperly timed lights, and more. Police continue to investigate at this time.
