Greenburgh, NY – Fatal Collision on Sprain Brook Parkway

Greenburgh, NY (October 25, 2018) – New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks reported a traffic collision that sadly resulted in the death of one person on Wednesday afternoon, October 24. The fatal accident took place at around 4:00 p.m. on Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh.

According to state police, the crash happened just after 62-year-old Denis E. Mays, of Mount Vernon, caused a property damage accident in a 2016 Toyota Infinity on State Route 100C. Mays left the scene of that crash and headed south on Sprain Brook Parkway. A short time later, Mays collided with a 2015 Toyota while changing lanes.

The driver of the 2015 Toyota lost control due to the impact and crashed into a guardrail. Mays continued to move eastward across the roadway and into the northbound lane, subsequently crashing into another two vehicles. Greenburgh paramedics assisted police at the scene where they pronounced Mays deceased. The drivers of the other three vehicles involved all suffered minor injuries as a result.

A thorough investigation into the initial collision and the subsequent chain of events that followed is ongoing at this time.
