Portville, NY – Victim of Head-On Collision Died at Hospital
Portville, NY (October 24, 2018) – A head-on collision resulted in three people suffering injuries on Saturday morning, October 20. Unfortunately, one of those victims was now pronounced dead due to their injuries on Tuesday, October 23. The victim has been identified as 79-year-old Paul B. Jurenko, of Olean.
The initial crash was reported to have taken place at around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday after two vehicles collided on Portville-Olean Road. The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department reported that a Ford Fusion that was traveling west on Portville-Olean Road crossed over into oncoming traffic, subsequently crashing into a Subaru Forester.
Both the Fusion and the Forester sustained severe damage to their front-ends and a third vehicle that was parked on the side of the road was also struck during the crash, suffering minor damage. The driver of the Fusion was rushed to Olean General Hospital after being extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders.
Jurenko was a passenger in the Subaru at the time of the accident, and a 76-year-old Olean woman who was also in the Subaru was promptly taken to Olean General Hospital as well. Jurenko sadly passed away on Tuesday at Erie County Medical Center.
