Upper West Side, Manhattan, NY – Elderly Man Critically Injured on Subway Tracks

Upper West Side, Manhattan, NY (October 17, 2018) – A 76-year-old man who fell onto subway tracks in Manhattan is in critical condition after being struck by a train on Wednesday, October 17. The incident was reported to have taken place at approximately 10:00 a.m. at the Lincoln Center-66th Street 1 train station.

Police have stated that it is possible that the man had suffered a medical episode just before falling onto the tracks. The conductor of the train was reported to have stated that they failed to see the man on the tracks. The train subsequently struck the man as a result.

The elderly victim was immediately rushed to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. According to authorities, the unidentified victim is currently listed in critical condition.

Authorities temporarily suspended services in the 1, 2, and 3 lines in order to remove the victim from the tracks. At this time, there is no more information available. Police are likely looking into the events that led to this incident.
