Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY – Firefighter Inured Following FDNY Truck Crash
Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY – (October 17, 2018) – An FDNY fire truck was reported to have jumped a curb and crashed into several vehicles on Wednesday, October 17. One firefighter inside the truck had to be hospitalized after the large crash that took place around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of East New York Avenue and St. Marks Avenue.
Reports stated that the truck was idle at a stoplight on east New York Avenue when the driver suffered some sort of medical episode. The driver pushed the accelerator and the truck careened toward the left side of the road, crashing into several parked cars. FDNY Ladder 120 was heading back to the station with no lights or sirens on at the time of the incident.
There were six firefighters inside the truck at the time, one of which had to be transported to Brookdale University Hospital. That victim was listed in serious condition, although his wounds are considered non-life-threatening at this time.
Police stated that at least a dozen vehicles were damaged as a result of the crash.
