Longwood, NY – Man Choked to Death in Fatal Escalator Accident

Longwood, NY (October 14, 2018) – A man choked to death in a fatal escalator accident this morning, October 14, when his shirt got stuck in the escalator at a Bronx subway station.

The accident took place at the Intervale Avenue station around 3:45 in the morning, according to police. When they came to the scene, police found the 48-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive on the top landing of the escalator. Police had to cut his shirt so that they could free him and he was rushed to the hospital. However, he did not survive the incident.

Police watched surveillance videos to see that the man was attempting to free himself. The medical examiner is still investigating to determine the exact cause of his death.
