Crown Heights, NY – Man Dies in Fatal Garbage Truck Crash
Crown Heights, NY (October 13, 2018) – A man died in a fatal garbage truck crash that happened on Thursday morning, October 11. The driver who caused the accident has since been identified as 33-year-old Aaron Gilchrist. Police said that he had been working for the Department of Sanitation since 2005.
The accident took place around 7 a.m. The driver of the garbage truck was driving the wrong way on a street that was marked as a one-way. He tried making a right turn onto Brooklyn Avenue, which is when he struck the victim.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released. They were taken to the hospital and pronounced dead while there.
Gilchrist was suspended at work and the company is still cooperating with police.
