Brooklyn, NY – Woman Struck and Killed by SUV on Nostrand Avenue

Brooklyn, NY (October 12, 2018) – Officials provided a report pertaining to a woman who was struck by a vehicle in Brooklyn. The accident, which proved to be fatal, claimed the life of a 45-year-0ld female after she was hit while crossing Nostrand Avenue at around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11.

Elina Sokolov was struck by a 2015 Dodge Durango while crossing Nostrand in the vicinity of Emmons Avenue. The fatal accident took place in the Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn. The 57-year-old male driver of the Durango was unable to stop in time and subsequently struck Sokolov who ended up being rolled over by the passenger side tires of the vehicle.

According to police, paramedics quickly arrived on the scene to assist Sokolov as they transported her to a local hospital. Unfortunately, the severely injured woman died of her injuries a short time later. The Durango was reported to have been turning onto Nostrand Avenue from Emmons Avenue at the time of the collision.

The driver stayed at the scene of the accident and cooperated with authorities. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.
