Henrietta, NY – Natural Gas Explosion Injures One on Jefferson Road

Henrietta, NY (October 9, 2018) – An explosion occurred at a business on Jefferson Road Tuesday morning, October 9, according to fire officials. Firefighters were reported to have responded to a natural gas explosion that took place at around 10:30 a.m. in Henrietta.

The incident occurred at Schlegel Systems located just off Jefferson Road in the vicinity of Winton Road.  According to fire officials at the scene, the explosion was due to natural gas that had leaked inside a boiler tank. The explosion was classified as minor. A 58-year-old employee suffered injuries due to the blast.

The injured employee was looking through the “looking glass” on the front of the boiler at the time. Reports stated that too much pressure had built up inside the boiler and that this pressure had blown the man backward, knocking him onto the floor. The injured man was reported to have experienced minor head trauma and ringing in his eyes as a result.

The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital with injuries considered to be minor. No more information has been released in regards to this incident.
