Centereach, NY – Crash on Middle Country Road Claims Life of Motorcyclist

Centereach, NY (October 2, 2018) – According to Suffolk County police, a motorcyclist lost his life following a collision with a Jeep on Monday night, October 2. 26-year-old Steven Benjamin, of Selden, was reported to have been traveling west on Middle Country Road in his 2004 KTM motorcycle at approximately 8:05 p.m.

At the aforementioned time, Benjamin made a left turn onto Eastwood Boulevard when he collided with a 2010 Jeep Liberty that had been traveling east at the time. Emergency crews were immediately called to the scene in order to assist any injured individuals. Benjamin was promptly transported to Stony Brook University Hospital and, according to police, he was sadly pronounced dead a short time after his arrival.

The driver of the Jeep, a 17-year-old female also of Selden, was reported to have remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. The unidentified female driver involved did not suffer any injuries during the collision.

Both the motorcycle and the Jeep were impounded for safety checks following the incident, and no charges have been filed against the driver of the Jeep. No more information has been made available at this time. The accident is currently under investigation by authorities.
