Rochester, NY – Woman Taken to Hospital After Fall Near Genesee River

Rochester, NY (July 4, 2019) – A woman from Rochester suffered injuries on Thursday, July 4th, after falling into the gorge at the bottom of the Lower Falls in the city. The incident was reported to have happened at an unspecified time during the afternoon hours for reasons that are being investigated.
At this time, authorities believe that the victim, who has only been identified as a 25-year-old woman, had been walking along the Driving Park Avenue Bridge when she slipped and fell. The victim hit the rocks during the fall but was, fortunately, able to remain conscious.
Emergency medical crews, including firefighters and responders who arrived by boat, were ultimately able to recover the victim. She was promptly transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. No further information has been released.
