Dongan Hills, NY – Pedestrian Struck and Injured by Vehicle at Intersection

Dongan Hills, NY (July 3, 2019) – NYPD officers were quickly summoned to the scene of a pedestrian crash with a motor vehicle that took place on Tuesday afternoon, July 2^nd. The incident occurred at approximately 1:25 p.m. at the intersection of Hylan Boulevard and Jefferson Avenue in the Dongan Hills section of Staten Island.

According to police, the victim was attempting to walk across the street when they were struck by a man who is believed to have fled the scene on foot. When officers arrived, they discovered a dark-colored sedan with a smashed windshield, and a man was reported to have been apprehended just a few blocks away from the scene.

Emergency medical responders attended to the victim, who was immediately taken to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze. The severity of the victim’s injuries is believed to be non-life-threatening. No further information has been released.
