Batavia, NY – Two People Hurt During House Fire on Hutchins Street

Batavia, NY (July 4, 2019) – An overnight fire that took place in the city of Batavia on early Thursday morning, July 4th, has left two people injured and five without a home. The fire was reported to have occurred around 3:00 a.m. at a home located on Hutchins Street for reasons that are under investigation at this time.
Police stated that firefighters and other responders were called to the scene, where one woman was reported to have jumped from a window to escape the blaze. According to authorities, a man was also found at the scene to be hanging from a window. Emergency crews immediately transported both parties to a local hospital.
At this time, the current condition of the male victim is unknown. However, the woman was reported to be in serious condition. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
