Tonawanda, NY (July 2, 2019) – On Monday evening, July 1st, a woman was struck and injured by a truck in front of Mississippi Mudds on Niagara Street in Tonawanda. The incident was reported to have taken place around 6:45 p.m., according to authorities.
Police stated that the victim, a 26-year-old woman from Tonawanda, was attempting to walk across the street from Niawanda Park to Mississippi Mudds when a truck made a left turn from Kohler onto Niagara Street. The woman, who was reported to have had the right of way at the time, was subsequently struck by the vehicle.
Police and emergency medical crews were sent to the scene, where the victim sustained lacerations to her arm and leg, as well as a possible broken wrist. She was promptly transported to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
27-year-old Joseph Costantino, of Grand Island, was identified as the driver of the truck and issued a ticket for failure to yield.
