Brooklyn, NY (July 1, 2019) – A 29-year-old woman was reported to have been riding a bicycle when she was fatally hit by a cement truck in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. The tragic accident was stated to have happened around 12:00 p.m. at the intersection of Boerum Street and Bushwick Avenue.
According to police, the victim, identified only as a 29-year-old woman, was on her bike when she was hit by a cement truck, operated by an unidentified 70-year-old man. The events that led to the accident are unclear at this time.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene, which was stated to have been only two blocks away from his home base. Authorities currently have reason to believe that the accident was not the fault of the driver; however, the investigation is ongoing.
New York bicycle accidents often prove to be fatal, as there is generally no protection between the vehicle and the victim at the time of impact, but especially when a large vehicle, such as a commercial truck, is involved. Before moving any further, we would first like to extend our deepest condolences and most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the loved ones of the victim during this tragic and devastating time.
We understand that it can be terribly challenging for the bereaved family to focus on anything other than their emotional recovery at this time and that no amount of compensation can replace your loss. However, it is important to realize that you may likely have substantial rights, particularly when your suffering has been caused by a blatantly reckless individual such as a drunk driver.
At Hach & Rose, we are here for you 24/7 as we have made it our mission to hold negligent and criminal drivers responsible for the overwhelming pain and devastation that they inflict. If you have lost a loved one in a New York bicycle accident, please don’t hesitate to call 212-779-0057 today.
