Lewis, NY – Two-Vehicle Crash Involving State Trooper on Stowersville Road

Lewis, NY (June 28, 2019) – At 6:17 p.m. on Thursday, June 27th, a collision took place between a New York State Trooper and a motorcycle on Stowersville Road in the town of Lewis. The crash resulted in one injury and is currently under investigation.
Trooper Rusty L. Renn was traveling west in a marked police vehicle when he attempted to make a left turn into the driveway of SP Lewis, according to authorities. Trooper Renn was reported to have then failed to see a motorcyclist, identified as 43-year-old Jerome P. Gay, of Lewis, who subsequently crashed into the passenger side of the police vehicle.
Gay was transported to the University of Vermont Health Network at the Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh. He was later taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, VT to undergo further treatment. At this time, the victims’ condition is considered stable.
